The area is the only Green electorate in Victoria which creates a left-leaning activism that permeates the suburb in the form of eco-friendly cafes, charity shops and other stores that appeal to the environmentally-conscious.
Greek, Lebanese, Turkish and Italian immigration have influenced the neighbourhood’s food and culture and has resulted in a thriving restaurant and cafe scene.
Sydney Road is the main commercial strip. The northern end of Lygon street marks the eastern boundary of the suburb and has a more upmarket feel compared to Sydney Road.
