A long-time mainstay of Brisbane’s gay scene, the Wickham completed a major refurbishment in the last few years and attempted to attract a more “mixed” crowd. Thankfully, the move didn’t stick and they have returned to their gay roots.

Less club and more pub, the Wickham is more for imbibing than dancing the night away. However, it can get quite rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights and features a floorshow lineup including drag queens, drag kings and musicians. The Wickham hosts the annual Big Gay Day Festival where the surounding streets are closed to traffic for a giant street party with headline acts. The Wickham also hosts popular games and trivia on weeknights.
