A one-day street party in Melbourne's inner-north commemorating 40 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Victoria has been postponed to February 13, 2022.

The event was first announced by premier Dan Andrews during the opening of the Victorian Pride Centre in July 2021. It is part of a series of events across the state for the LGBT+ community and its allies to celebrate 40 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality.

Melbourne is slowly relaxing restrictions after emerging from its sixth lockdown. The change of date apparently reflects the assumption that capacity restrictions will still be in place as of the originally scheduled date of December 5, 2021.

The new scheduled date is one week after Midsumma Festival, so February 2022 is shaping up to be a massive celebration for the rainbow community.
