Gertrude Street is the Second Coolest Street in the World

For the second year running, a Fitzroy street has landed in the top-2 coolest streets in the world as ranked by Timeout magazine.

Every year, Timeout surveys its readership to rank the coolest streets in the world based on food, fun, culture and community. The results are then compiled by Timeout editors into a definitive list. Gertrude street has taken out the #2 spot in 2022.

Neighbouring Smith Street took out the top spot last year so it is increasingly obvious that the Collingwood/Fitzroy area is the epicentre of Melbourne coolness.

The leafy stretch connecting Smith street to Brunswick street has taken out the number two spot behind Rue Wellington in Montreal. With its cafe culture, ungentrified architecture and independent, boutique vibe, it’s no surprise this street is getting accolades

The only other Australian street to make the list of 33 streets is Enmore Road in Sydney which came in at number 24.
