YOLO has long held a unique place in Crete's queer scene as the island's only exclusively gay bar — a small, unpretentious spot that has punched well above its size for years. There's a dancefloor towards the back, reasonably priced drinks, and an atmosphere that starts as a relaxed meeting place early in the evening and builds into something livelier as the night goes on. Staff are reliably welcoming and the crowd tends to be a diverse mix of nationalities — the kind of bar where you can walk in alone and leave with friends.
YOLO is currently closed, and at time of writing it's unclear whether it will reopen. We're keeping the listing here because it matters — a dedicated gay bar in a destination this size is not easily replaced.
