Monogram is a fifth-generation coffee roasting company based in Crete — which immediately sets it apart from the wave of third-wave cafés that have opened across Europe in recent years. The old town location sits in the Splantzia quarter, one of Chania's most characterful neighbourhoods, and the coffee is roasted on the premises, with beans and ground coffee available to take away if you want to bring some home.
The café itself is relaxed and laid-back in feel, with sandwiches and pastries alongside the coffee menu. The baristas know their product well and the range covers everything from espresso-based drinks to filter methods — this is a place that takes the craft seriously without making you feel like you need a glossary to order.
