Pub Street is Siem Reap’s neon-lit nightlife core: a compact strip of bars, restaurants, massage shops, souvenir stalls and late-night energy just a short walk from the river in the middle of the city. It encompasses both the best and worst of tourism — lively, convenient and fun, but also loud, crowded and occasionally tacky in the way only major backpacker hubs can be. For a small city, Siem Reap has a surprisingly visible queer nightlife scene. There is inventive drag, old-school neighbourhood gay bars, late-night dancing and enough venues to stitch together a proper bar crawl. For a city best known for temples and sunrise tours, it has a playful after-dark side that is more varied than you might expect.
The action clusters around Pub Street and the surrounding lanes. Pub Street itself is not exactly a gay utopia — see the inset below — but it is the centrepoint for Siem Reap’s bar and club scene, and most queer venues are within easy walking distance. That makes it simple to start with a cocktail, catch a drag show, drift into a gay bar and still have somewhere to dance later in the night.
Barcode remains the headline act for a camp night out, known for amazing drag shows and a central location that makes it an easy first or final stop. Rendezvous brings the friendly, low-pressure feel of an old-school gay bar, while G.O.D. Club adds the city’s late-night dance-floor energy. For something moodier and more cinematic, Miss Wong delivers red-lantern glamour, low lighting and strong cocktails in The Lane. WILD is a lush open-air reset for garden drinks, while the bars around Pub Street provide the louder, messier, dance-till-late side of town.
