When it comes to hotels, Siem Reap punches well above its weight. For a relatively small city, it has an impressive collection of polished boutique stays, art-forward resorts along the river and even a gay resort.
Boutique luxury is where the city really shines. The best places feel slower, more intimate and more personal than comparable hotels in larger cities, with leafy courtyards, calm pools, thoughtful design and service that rarely feels rushed.
For most travellers, the sweet spot is staying within easy reach of the Old Market and Pub Street area, where much of Siem Reap’s dining, drinking and nightlife is centred. That said, the city is compact, and even quieter neighbourhoods are usually only a short tuk-tuk ride away. Fortunately, there are plenty of excellent hotels within easy walking distance of the action, giving you access when you want it and calm when you do not.
