A design has been selected for the Bondi memorial to gay men and trans women who were the victims of hate crimes in Sydney.

A memorial will be constucted honouring the victims of homophobic and transphobic attacks in Sydney. Urban Art's project "Rise" has been selected and will be constructed at Marks Park in Tamarama in 2021.

Marks Park's isolated cliff-top location and thick shrubs made it a popular gay beat. It was also the scene of gay bashings and hate crimes; with some victims thrown from the cliff leaving no evidence of their fate.

At least 88 gay men and transgender women in NSW were killed in the three decades from 1970s-1990s. Around 30 cases remain unsolved
