Sex‑positive queer techno inferno that sweats out your demons
Queer Dance Party

BARBA is Sydney’s roaming queer techno rave: a sex‑positive, all‑inclusive party where basslines are heavy, boundaries are clear, and the dance floor feels like group therapy in leather boots.

Born in 2014 out of a love for pounding techno and shameless queer joy, BARBA pops up roughly once a month in Sydney – often around big moments like Mardi Gras – then vanishes again like a sweaty little myth. Run by queer POC and proudly all‑inclusive and sex‑positive, it’s built for bodies that want to move and minds that want to melt, not just folks chasing a pop sing‑along.

Expect serious sound systems, laser‑lit rooms and a crowd that dresses somewhere between warehouse rave and erotic fever dream. Consent, kink and playfulness are all woven into the culture, but so is care: BARBA is vocal about being a safer space, with zero tolerance for racism, transphobia, or garden‑variety bad vibes.

Lineups lean into quality techno and electronic heat, spotlighting queer DJs and performers from across Australia and beyond. Events and tickets are announced on Facebook and via barbapresents.com, so plan ahead – BARBA nights sell fast, and your Monday may not survive intact.

Techno, but make it family

Launched in 2014, BARBA grew from a small techno gathering into a rotating ecosystem of parties (including sister events like JIZZ and BARBARA) spanning Sydney and Melbourne. Across every edition, the mission stays the same: queer POC at the helm, a dance floor where every body is welcome, and techno as the lifeblood of the night.
