Brunswick is a buzzing neighbourhood 6km north of the CBD known as Melbourne’s hipster central. Vintage stores, tattoo studios, cafes, restaurants and live music venues fill the suburb’s lively streets. The area also has a thriving queer scene and hosts many much-loved queer dance parties.

The area is the only Green electorate in Victoria which creates a left-leaning activism that permeates the suburb in the form of eco-friendly cafes, charity shops and other stores that appeal to the environmentally-conscious.

Greek, Lebanese, Turkish and Italian immigration have influenced the neighbourhood’s food and culture and has resulted in a thriving restaurant and cafe scene.

Sydney Road is the main commercial strip. The northern end of Lygon street marks the eastern boundary of the suburb and has a more upmarket feel compared to Sydney Road.
