The Prince Hotel is one of Melbourne's oldest meeting places for the LGBT+ community. It attracted a gay crowd from its opening in 1937. In the 1970s the hotel held the drag show Pokeys, an offshoot of Les Girls, every Sunday night. The jury is still out on whether or not it continues to attract a gay crowd.
