Ballarat Frolic Festival is a not-for-profit that organises queer events in regional Victoria.
In 2021, they are re-shaping their main event to be called Frolic Dark Rainbow, a European-style winter festival that has a decidely darker and more edgy vibe than their typical annual event. They are also planning a lighter and more carefree event for summer.
Due to Covid, the festival had to be cancelled in 2020. As a result, the five festival directors decided to take the festival in a different direction that would create a point of difference between their festival and other LGBT+ festivals that take place around Australia.
