Trams will get you to most major destinations in the city. The operator Yarra Trams claims the system is the largest operational urban tram network in the world.

Trams are free in the CBD and Docklands area. As long as you get on and get off within the Free Tram Zone, there is no need to buy a ticket. See Getting Around for details.

The Colonial Tramcar restaurant is a great way to see the sights of Melbourne onboard a beautiful 1950s tram. Due to a legal disagreement, this tour is no longer available. Hopefully the disagreement is resolved soon and the services start again.
