The Beat Megaclub is one of Australia’s longest-running gay nightclubs — and a cornerstone of Brisbane’s queer nightlife since 1983. Sprawling across multiple rooms with six dancefloors, seven bars, and three beer gardens, The Beat offers a soundtrack for every mood, from pop and R&B to house and classic anthems. It’s a sprawling, anything-goes party space where locals and visitors alike come to dance, flirt, and let loose until the early hours.
Upstairs, the atmosphere leans distinctly queer — this is where The Beat’s heart beats loudest. Drag shows, camp anthems, and a friendly, flamboyant crowd make it the go-to floor for Brisbane’s LGBTQ+ community and allies. Downstairs stays a little more mixed, with everything from DJs spinning club hits to cruisier lounge bars.
